Humaning Is Hard and some days, just being human feels like a full-time job for us . There’s no onboarding, no training manual, and definitely no emergency escape clause. You wake up, show up, push through, and somewhere in the chaos of expectations, responsibilities, and emotions you never quite learned how to process, you try to make sense of it all.

And it’s exhausting. The weight of having to be—capable, resilient, functional—can feel relentless. You’re supposed to juggle self-awareness, relationships, career, mental health, and some illusion of balance, all while pretending you’ve got it figured out. But let’s be real: no one actually has it all figured out.

The Reality of ‘Humaning’

Let’s be honest. This whole ‘being a person’ thing? It’s messy. It’s complicated. It’s painful. It’s frustrating. And it rarely goes according to plan.

  • Emotions are unpredictable. One moment, you’re fine. The next, a random song comes on, and you’re reminiscing about a life you didn’t even live.

  • Mistakes happen. Nobody gets through life without embarrassing themselves at least a hundred times. (And if you say otherwise, you’re either lying ( in denial or have selective amnesia.)

  • Expectations vs. Reality. We all want to be the person who wakes up early, drinks water, and meditates. But let’s be real—sometimes we wake up, scroll on our phones, and eat leftover pizza for breakfast instead, before running off to start our day with our hair on fire.

  • Self-doubt is sneaky. That inner voice that whispers, “You’re not good enough”? Yeah, it’s a liar, but damn if it isn’t convincing sometimes.

The Hardest Part? Owning It.

Humaning is hard because self-awareness is hard. The moment we stop blaming circumstances and own our choices, life starts making more sense—but it also gets more uncomfortable. Growth isn’t glamorous. It’s the emotional equivalent of leg day—painful, awkward, and full of moments where you want to quit.

But here’s the kicker: that’s where the magic happens.

  • The more we own our mistakes, the more we learn.

  • The more we embrace our imperfections, the more we grow.

  • The more we acknowledge that we don’t have it all figured out, the freer we become.

The Flip Side: Why It’s Worth It

For all its challenges, ‘Humaning’ is also filled with moments of joy, connection, and growth.

  • The small wins matter—like getting out of bed on tough days or finally choosing to drink that damn glass of water.

  • Nobody really has it all together, and that’s oddly comforting—so give yourself and other a little slack.

  • Owning your shit doesn’t mean having it all figured out—it means recognizing where you are and choosing to keep going.

So, What Now?

If “Humaning” feels hard, congratulations! You’re doing it right. The goal isn’t perfection—it’s PROGRESS. It’s embracing the messy, beautiful, chaotic journey of learning, failing, and getting back up again.

So, what part of ‘Humaning’ is hardest for you? And now that you know, how will you own it?

Until next time, Own Your Shit, cut yourself and others some slack, and just keep Humaning the best you can today.
