Thoughts represent a single snapshot of your attention at a given moment and are focused on an idea or image that doesn't change unless you intentionally choose to change it. Thoughts occur at a particular point in time and can be fleeting, presenting one idea or feeling.

Example:

  • "I need to call my friend."

  • "This task is challenging."

  • "I'm excited about the weekend."

Thinking is more fluid because it is an active, emotional reaction or response to the perspective of multiple thoughts over time. Thinking is continuous and involves the movement and development of thoughts as you engage with ideas, solve problems, or make decisions and is a process that can be conscious or unconscious, deliberate or spontaneous. Thinking involves reasoning, reflection, and creativity, allowing you to process information and navigate the world.

Examples:

  • Analyzing a problem by weighing pros and cons.

  • Planning a project by organizing various tasks.

  • Reflecting on past experiences to draw conclusions.

So, how what does having a thought and thinking look like?

Thinking: When planning a vacation, you engage in thinking as you consider various destinations, evaluate costs, and decide on travel dates. This process involves multiple thoughts about different aspects of the trip.

Thought: During the planning process, a single thought might be "What if I visit Paris?" This thought is part of the larger thinking process as you weigh options and make decisions.

My final Thoughts, when we notice we're Thinking, we're story telling, and when we notice a Thought, we're gathering information for our stories. Either way, we are creating our reality and the more intentional we are about choosing one Thought over another with intention, and we spend more time Thinking positively about the ideal outcome of our desires, the more successful we can be.

Until Next Time, Be Intentional and Own Your Shit!
