We’re All Human

We’re all carrying unseen burdens, facing struggles no one else knows about. In a world quick to judge, what if we chose grace instead? This blog explores the power of small acts of kindness, reminding us that patience and compassion can ripple further than we realize. Because at the end of the day—we’re all human. #IamYou

The "We’re All Human" Challenge:
A Little Grace Goes a Long Way!!!

Humaning is hard. Some days, we feel unstoppable. Other days? We’re running late, spilling coffee, losing our keys, and questioning all of our life choices in the middle of a grocery store aisle—probably while wearing mismatched socks.

We’re all juggling responsibilities, emotions, expectations, and the daily absurdities of life. And yet, despite knowing how chaotic life can be, we’re so quick to judge:

  • The coworker who forgot to CC us (or invite us to HH?!?😲).

  • The driver who cut us off.

  • The barista who got our order wrong (we said almond milk, not whole!).

We react. We assume. We take it personally. But here’s the thing—we don’t know what burdens someone else is carrying.

Maybe the driver just lost their job, or a loved one. Maybe the barista is surviving on three hours of sleep, or maybe they're trying to figure our how to cover the costs of medical care for their mom. Maybe that coworker who forgot the email is drowning in deadlines, and because everyone is busy, they don't want to burden anyone and ask for help, (desperately hoping no one notices they’ve been wearing the same blazer all week.) And maybe—just maybe—it has absolutely nothing to do with us.
(Honestly, I still catch myself taking things personally until my husband reminds me, “It’s not always about you. Shawn” 🙄)

The Challenge: Give the Grace You Want

For the next 24 hours, let’s try something radical. Let’s give people the same grace we’d want on our worst day.

Someone cuts you off in traffic? Assume they’re struggling and let it go (even if you really want to give the 1 finger wave).
A coworker drops the ball? Instead of irritation, offer a solution (or at least a knowing nod of solidarity).
A family member snaps at you? Maybe they’re overwhelmed, not unkind (or just hangry and in need of a snack).

Not every action is intentional. And it’s certainly not always about you.

At the end of the day, we’re all human. We all have moments where we could use a little compassion. And sometimes, the grace we give others? It changes us the most.

So, are you in? Drop a 🙌 in the comments if you’re taking the challenge. Let’s make grace the new normal.

Until next time—own your shit, with a little grace and compassion. You might be surprised at how much lighter it makes you feel.

Shawn
